Cacao origin:

Wild cacao. Tocantins River. In 2019, Luisa Abram established a partnership with local communities along the Tocantins River, where wild cacao had previously only been sold as unfermented “bulk cacao”. Together, they developed optimal fermentation techniques, elevating the cacao’s quality and creating better income opportunities for the local communities.

About the chocolate maker:

Luisa Abram is a chocolate maker who sources wild cacao from remote areas of the Amazon Rainforest, working closely with riverside communities, known as "ribeirinhos." This rare cacao grows naturally along the floodplains of the forest's rivers, thriving without any human intervention. The resulting chocolate captures the unique terroir of the Amazon, offering an authentic taste of its natural environment. Each river region contributes a distinct flavor profile, reflecting the diversity of the Amazon’s ecosystem.
